If sorrow be the commemoration of our love
Then I shan’t remember thee.
You will not be a souvenir, a keepsake
Buried in the dust
Excavated on cheerless days.
No.
You won’t be a mere relic of the past
All the memories amassed
Bitter-sweet
They will not be the culmination of you.
Should grief dictate that I remember you in woeful verse
Then I shan’t remember thee!
You see you are the flowers blooming in my soul
Evergreen.
You are the scent perfuming the gardens of my heart.
You are
Eternal Spring.
And if distance should mean that I remember you
With petals soaked and withering wreaths
Then I shan’t remember thee at all.

Yes, life is phases of chaos and peace. How else would we keep the drama alive? Happy as long as I’m allowed to crib. 😄😄

I like crib used as a verb in your comment below, but not sure how you meant it. Kind of similar to me saying I like to couch. 🙂

Surprising! I was under the impression it’s just another word everybody knows. Just checked it online. Apparently it’s a word somewhat exclusively used in India. (Source: Google) To crib, here, means ‘to complain’. Here’s a link : http://www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/definition/english/crib_2

What a beauty! It is such a mature poem – the thought behind it, and the beauty in which it is written. I’m at a stage right now where this poem seconds my thoughts. Thank you so much.

Thank you! Happy you can relate to my thoughts. Grief opens us to so many perspectives, overcoming sorrow truly is a learning process. Whatever it is that you’re going through, I hope it passes soon. I wish you the best in life. 🙂

Thank you for the kind words. Grief sure helps in teaching a lot of life lessons, and makes us more mature.

Oh I feel you. It’s a state of mind, wellness, yes? I’m alright but I keep changing my mind. 🙂

Yes. 🙂
By the way, that sounds like it could be the first line of a song or poem: “I’m alright but I keep changing my mind.”

Yes! Fake modesty aside, I’d love a song that opens with those words. Though I’m not to sure who to give it to. I’m thinking on the lines of Alanis Morissette/Dido. 🙂

I loved what you did with words in this. The target, shoved in a dark corner, perhaps to gather dust and eventually be thrown out with other things.
I’m glad I’m not in that category.
