La Luna : Reveries Of A Moon Child

Forever veiled in borrowed blaze, ordained to lonesome life
I circle skies unceasingly burning in beauty bright.

So many have loved my cover sweet, none braved to venture deep
Must I be prized for mirrored light? My soul will no one seek?

A heart of rust, some rubble and dust, my crust barren and bleak
Yet I am strong enough to stir and wake the dormant seas.

I am the God of wolves, the poet’s song, the flight of dreams
I am lovers’ refuge, a midnight kiss on heaven’s cheek.

Come morn I must withdraw but I’m not torn by my defeat
For oft I forebring night, a vanquished Sun in darkness sleeps.

And you my child will soon realize that light and life are leased
Darkness is the one true path to reach eternal peace.

Fading, waning you and I are star-crossed fireflies
Destined to burn our days from cosy womb to funeral pyre.

  1. Well, whatever you did worked. It is magnificent and the flesh beam light of a soul that can immensly feel in the dark and cold~ 🙂

      1. No, smile… try not to get caught up in my feed yet. Right now when you are in struggle to write, just me support you without the need for ‘catching up’. I wish you to be a selfish writer, just hearing your own voice in the process for awhile. 🙂

      2. You’re such a sweetheart! You’re a constant motivation and I cannot afford to miss your posts. Other than word goals, you’ve also given me playlist goals. So don’t worry, I’m being pretty selfish. If I’m on your page, it is for me. Killer hugs to you 🙂

  2. I just adore what I consider to be the heart of this poem: ‘Must I be prized for mirrored light? My soul will no one seek?
I was thinking, just the other day, of this same thing but in another context. I was thinking of the people that think that they own their own body and face, and that disdain to be watched as they move down the street.
I was wondering if they realised that they do own the body they inhabit, but not the light that has travelled from the sun to strike their body and bounce away again only to land in the eyes of those who pass by.
But that aside, the mind inside is much more interesting to me, for without the mind and the life force, all this flesh would turn to rot and then to dust. So I say to thee – me – I would declare that thou are prized for the soul that is thee.

    1. That’s a strange thought we have in common. I guess faces, bodies, appearances don’t and shouldn’t matter. They are a rather false representation of what lurks inside and in that sense the onlooker should be the one complaining for being cheated. Talk about being twisted.
Your analysis of the poem is spot on. That one line is indeed the soul of all words. Thank you for your stamp of approval Mister Day, I’m always ready to serve you my soul on a platter. You need only ask.

      1. I ask only that you love yourself often and give regards to the rest of us when you have blessings to spare (which will, of course, be often with all that love you are showering yourself with). 🙂
You know – that’s why I love it here better than the (so called) real world – there is so much more honesty and love here. Plus – we get to see deeper into each other. Please continue to share with me. Love it. 🙂

      2. Well it’s nice, adds a few more years to your oh-so-serious name. I think if somebody called Sir Robert C Day would write a self-help book, I would buy it in a jiffy! 🙂

      3. Oooh, that’s nice. I will have to hold you to that promise. All this, and more, from the pen of Sir Robert C Day. If I had known I was going to get a knighthood then I wouldn’t have bothered with the C (there is already an author called Robert Day).
Hmm – let me think about how serious my name is, and if I need to add any more years. 😉

    1. Well I don’t know if I am one, technically speaking. I was born on a full moon, 22nd November, so I’d like to think that I am. Also, I’ve never felt much for the Sun. Thank you for reading and your kind words. 🙂

  3. Wonderful, magical piece. This was worth the admission price alone: “So many have loved my cover sweet, none braved to venture deep
Must I be prized for mirrored light? My soul will no one seek?”

    1. There is tremendous power in darkness, only if we accept our share of it. How else can you appreciate light? With regards to the poem, death is the only constant and life and light, the future, the unknown, all are mere fallacies of the mind. 🙂

    1. The idea of life is, I believe and sadly we are caught in a rut, constantly moulding our lives to fit our fickle perceptions. Death is the only reality in that sense. Serious stuff aside, I loved your poem and I’ll surely visit your site soon. I’ve been inactive on wordpress for the longest time and I could use some of your sweet words. Thank you for stopping by Foureyed Poet. 🙂
