So many have loved my cover sweet, none braved to venture deep
Must I be prized for mirrored light? My soul will no one seek?
A heart of rust, some rubble and dust, my crust barren and bleak
Yet I am strong enough to stir and wake the dormant seas.
I am the God of wolves, the poet’s song, the flight of dreams
I am lovers’ refuge, a midnight kiss on heaven’s cheek.
Come morn I must withdraw but I’m not torn by my defeat
For oft I forebring night, a vanquished Sun in darkness sleeps.
And you my child will soon realize that light and life are leased
Darkness is the one true path to reach eternal peace.
Fading, waning you and I are star-crossed fireflies
Destined to burn our days from cosy womb to funeral pyre.
