Gilded Frames

I’m happy to announce that my Ma has finally stepped into this beautiful world of wordpress and blogging. As a child, I had the privilege of hearing a different story every night and I’ve often wondered why she never tried to put her words on paper. Now that she’s got ample time, I thought it would be a good idea to coax her into writing on a regular basis. Recollections At Fall is what she’s come up with and I can’t wait to see where she goes from here. I hope you enjoy her poems.

Recollections At Fall

As I sit by the hearth

Soaked in its warmth

Snug and smug

I glance at the trappings galore.

My eyes flit around the room which hosts

The infinite trophies proudly amassed through the passage of time.

My eyes skim quickly, oft pondering over the futility of the clutter.

My gaze is arrested, it lingers at the corner

Where gilded frames encase the loved ones departed.

A tremulous voice from within calls, raking up memories sweet and bitter,

Snatched moments of joy and sorrow, the comfort of being whole.

Reluctantly, I brush aside my wanton thoughts and drag away my moistened gaze.

A warm smile brightens my face, the sight of my mutt at my feet – my constant companion.

Recollections of the past dim, replaced by inward joy.

Can I fall in love with life at fall? I know not.
