Iridescence

It was as if with every frisky step she infused bits of her soul into the dying foliage, breathing it back to verdant life. The valley before me resuscitated,

As fronds and leaves popped into existence with rejuvenated effervescence.  Perhaps it was not the swing in her hips, the coquettish grin or the skittish hint

Of love in her eyes that shook them out of their slumber into untimely frondescence. Perchance they were the lucky ones, the more fortunate beings who were immune

To the trickeries of sweet seduction, the charm of her playful exuberance. But I could see that the wind had succumbed to her intoxicating scent, much like my heart.

Its spirit wandered blissfully in the labyrinth of luscious locks, lost in the many folds of her emerald skirt that teased with every swirl.  And much like the wind,

My lusting heart craved for a taste of salty amber skin as she led me further into the depths of oak and fern. It was then that I realized, her vivacity

Had instilled a strange coveting in the plodding trees. Mesmerized, I followed her iridescence as we walked under the viridescent shades of growing envy.

Me being inspired by me for a change, thanks to my friend who clicked this rather beautiful picture, all the while ensuring that I don’t fall off the most treacherous cliff ever! This is all fiction, I could never be that awesome. 🙂

    1. Well thank you. I’m thrilled that you did. I’ve never really written something that would fall into the ‘horror’ category but I would love to try. Going to read your stories and I’m sure they’ll inspire me to explore that genre. Thank you for reading again. 🙂

    1. Thank you, Darren. I’ve been meaning to read more of your work since ‘Night’s Butterfly’ but my laziness always takes over. Tonight, I’ve decided I’m going to raid your feed for good! Thank you once again for stopping by. 🙂

  1. Hey Tanya! (Read till the end, don’t be lazy hehe) 😀 Well if I could just explain this post in two words, I would say this is ‘Sheer Brilliance’, without any second thoughts. As i have mentioned many times, your posts always inspire me to write long and elegant pieces like this one, but because of my laziness, I stick to short stories. 😀 I am really sure you are just as awesome as you described yourself in the post. 🙂

    P.S.
I had to tilt my head 90 degrees to the left, to distinctly read the tattoo on your forearm! 😛

    1. Thank you, Tanmay. As always you’re being too kind but I like how you always stop by to appreciate what I put up. I’m glad that my words can influence your thoughts in some way, I think that is the goal of any and every post.

I love your short pieces, they speak volumes and I wish I could be that articulate with the thoughts in my head. I read your last comment and I will surely check out the new post soon. We also need to make a new blog for B’s visit to India 😄😊

About the tattoo, it’s my mom and dad’s name. It was my second and I have four. I was quite the wild child before! Thank you for believing in my awesomeness 😁😀

      1. Woah a long one! 😀 You write so beautifully that I just can’t refrain myself from appreciating it. I read a lot of work of different bloggers everyday , and trust me when I say this, you are one of those who actually put their soul to your writings. (I guess it’s enough for now, I would save some compliments for your future posts). 😀

  2. This is a gorgeous text my bright sparkle ❤ you are just as fantastic at writing in prose as you are at poetry. I am in awe. As I was coursing through your lines I could feel what your characters felt, the drive, the freedom, the high of their desire. It is gorgeous writing.
Ps: I agree with you, you could never be that awesome. There are no words that could do you justice and describe how amazing you are. That is how awesome you are 😉

  3. I was about to comment on how you appeared to be pulling away so the green in your dress could coalesce into the green of the hillside, but you noted you were being held back. I also learned two new words which I was sure you invented through poetic license, ala Arundhati Roy, frondescence and viridescent. They are uncommon, but very real.
